Despite their somewhat conservative outlook when compared to other astronomically priced audio solutions, the US$180,000 Grande Utopia EM speakers justify their price tag by incorporating some of the most premium components in the world.

Manufactured by French audio experts Focal, the four-way floor-standing bass-reflex loudspeakers produce unsurpassed performance.

This is achieved through highly advanced proprietary drivers that allow for a resonance frequency of below 24Hz, a treble transducer made from pure Beryllium (the only metal able to scratch glass), Focal’s W composite sandwich technology, and their Optimum Phase Crossover.

The speakers’ spinal appearance also goes beyond mere decorative purposes, allowing for mechanical adjustments for the optimal “Sweet Spot, which Focal describes as the perfect listening point. Other specifications in these 260kg speakers include a frequency response of 18Hz to 40kHz, a sensitivity of 94dB and a recommended amp power of 50 – 1500W.
